We switched to no contract a few years ago. We had been with Verizon and with AT&T as well as an Alaska based cell phone company when we lived in Alaska called ACS. I hated the overages, fees, billing mistakes and poor customer service. So we switched to Boost Mobile. The hardest thing about Boost is getting a live agent. Lucky for others I take notes when calling them and I found a way to get a live agent in less than 5 minutes. This is current as of today Friday February 28th 2014. (Note: have your phone pin handy when you call)

The other company we have used is Net10. I think it is easier to get a Net10 agent on the phone so I have never had to take notes. When calling Net10 I just keep entering the pound sign # when they ask for me to enter the number I am calling about. On the third entry they say we are unable to understand your entry and they ring me through to a live agent.
It sucks to have to play phone tricks but there are a few big reasons we stay with them. 1st off with Boost our bill goes down by $5.00 every six on time payments until it reaches $35.00 a month. My daughter who is in her first year of college pays her own phone bill. Having a $35.00 a month bill is worth the hassle of getting someone on the phone with with them considering we call maybe once a year, if that. They have auto billing the same day of each month. But the phones are not the best. They do however now have the ability to bring your own phone according to the website but we have not done this.
Net10 has an every 30 day billing so my date changes. You save with auto billing but again it is worth it. Net10 uses the AT&T network for its calls and we get excellent reception with them in our area. So we use both Net10 and AT&T in our house. We like them both for different reasons. Net10 let me bring my old iphone 4 to their services when Boost did not so Net10 got my business and I am pretty loyal to them because they have given me service that is well within the range of what I pay per month which right now is $50.00 for unlimited Talk, Text and Data.
