Cookies In A Jar

This Recipe Comes from Bakerella Yeehaaa… yum yum… it’s Cowboy Cookies. Or, in this case, Cowgirl Cookies. A friend introduced these to me and I love them. Especially the name. Cowboy Cookies. Cowboy Cookies. Cowboy Cookies. Rolls off the tongue doesn’t it? Well, I took the traditional oats, chocolate chips and pecans this cookie is known for and added some pink m&m’s to make them, well, more girly. But why stop there. I also made a few cookie mixes to try out as a test run for a gift idea. You see, I missed said friend’s birthday (sorry friend) and I wanted to make up for it. Mechelle's Best Ever Banana Cake Recipe

I got a great banana bread recipe years ago and started to make some changes to it, to make it my own recipe. I added and took away and came out with the following recipe. Renamed Banana Cake, because it is just so good it can not be called bread! Bake at 350, until done. I say until done because I make this as muffins, mini loaves and in a 9x13 pan. I do not however suggest a full loaf pan. It takes to long to bake and the outside is to dark. The whole recipe will make a 9x13 or 6 large muffins and 4 mini loaves or 6 mini loaves. I suppose you could do two 8x8 or round cake pans, but I never have. The 9x13 took me an hour at Ft. Campbell KY but only takes about 35 minutes in Eagle River Ak. So just smell and watch them and work out your own cooking time. They should spring back like a cake when touched in the center. They can have goo on them if you use a knife or toothpick to test because of the banana so thats not the best method to test doneness. So her...

School Lunches

Back to School is just around the corner! I just can not subject my children to the school lunch program. I understand the cost effectiveness for those that receive reduced and free meals but the lack of quality and the high cost for most is enough to have us packing lunches for the whole family. My husband works days and is in a patrol car most of the time (he is a Military Police Officer) and the cost of eating out everyday is very expensive especially in Alaska. I am a stay at home mom with a busy schedule and find that it is nice to also plan and make my lunch in advance with the rest of the family. So after dinner during the school year we like to make our lunches and clean the kitchen. My youngest is 6 and is able to make most of his own lunch now and is learning to read.
